Semi protected edit request for the first paragraph of the criticism section

The first paragraph claims that the Islamic Development Bank has created the 'Al-Quds Intifada Fund'. This was an allegation that was made against the bank to the United States and the EU. Wikileaks cables reveals that the Islamic Development Bank has no credible links to the 'Al-Quds Intifada Fund' and the Islamic Development bank was cleared of any funding of Hamas by the EU and the US. The second paragraph claims that documentary evidence proves that the IDB has provided funds to Hamas. The authors of the allegation, Ehrenfeld and Lappen are used throughout the criticisms section, however, the references for their claims do not provide any evidence. All of Ehrenfeld and Lappen are unsubstantiated. In regards to this particular claim, about the IDB providing funds to Hamas, this is untrue. At the time that the IDB was being given observer status to the UN, Israel raised the same claim against the IDB to the EU and US. Diplomatic cables show that both the US and EU found no credible evidence that the IDB had been funding terrorist groups. Semi protected edit request for the second paragraph of the criticism section

A paragraph within the criticism section states that the IDB has been supporting the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

However, the reference used to substantiate this claim (on investigativeproject.org) contains makes no mention at all of the IDB providing financial or any other support to ISNA.

Interestingly, the other reference used within the same paragraph to substantiate this claim is a link to a page on a website called globalmbwatch.com. That page includes a passage which reads “…the ISNA statement asserts that ISNA “does not accept funding from foreign governments.” This claim is impossible to verify since, despite its claims of transparency, ISNA is classified as a religious organization and is therefore not required to make a public report of its finances nor has it voluntarily done so.”

That statement from a citation used to support claims of an evidential financial link between IDB and ISNA would appear, in fact, to support the opposite position.

That same reference (on globalmbwatch) asserts the IDB made a $275,000 grant to ISNA’s high school and scholarship program. But that claim is not referenced - it is merely an unsubstantiated claim on a blog platform. Neither could I find any factual, authoritative reference points online to support that claim.

The rest of this paragraph within the criticism section relates to ISNA and its alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood. Notwithstanding the poorly sourced nature of those claims, such characterisations of ISNA become irrelevant given there is no adequate reference point used to demonstrate a link between it and the IDB in the first place.

As such, there are very strong grounds to remove this paragraph of the criticism section. Creativelement (talk) 20:22, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
