discovery

edit

"German chemist Felix Ehrlich discovered isoleucine in hemoglobin in 1903." As far as I know, isoleucine is not present in hemoglobin. Is there a source for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.56.75.222 (talk) 02:21, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

piyal seeds?

What is "piyal seeds"? --Kilva 11:25, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think that Pubchem entry for D-Isoleucine is: 76551 And for D-allo-Isoleucine: 94206 Pansanel (talk) 13:04, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ingested in proteins?

edit

Is there any particular food or protein which is high is Isoleucine? Is there anything in particular I should eat to ensure intake of this amino acid or will any kind of protein be good enough?

Biological role

edit

There should probably be a section on that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.227.244 (talk) 02:20, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

The hydrocarbon side chain should be changed

edit

In the article within the first sentence, the hydrocarbon side chain would be better stated as a sec-butyl side chain(or R-group). Simple fix and verifiable from many sources(including wikipedia itself). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gosukillerza (talkcontribs) 21:04, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow wikipedians,

After reviewing this page and the article there are a few edits I propose to make.

-I plan to verify with and expand upon information of the discovery of Isoleucine. Using a primary citation.

-I plan to add in information of the biological role of this essential amino acid, focusing on enzymes that contain isoleucine in the active-site.

-I plan to expand on the details of isoleucine metabolism and disorders associated with mutations in the metabolic pathway.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions! :) Bhnson1 (talk) 23:21, 12 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Table of isomers

edit

It is unclear what the left hand column of the table of isomers represents. Is it a racemic mixture, or what? ---- Ehrenkater (talk) 17:35, 3 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Good catch. That table is very confusing. The D, L, and rac parameters for isoleucine should be in the ChemBox together with the individual physical properties and identifiers. We should just create an alloisoleucine.--Smokefoot (talk) 19:23, 3 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

ball and stick model

edit

I think the model is not accurate. The α- carboxyl group is not showing a double bond with C and an O, and an O is lacking an H. 198.124.208.194 (talk) 15:44, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
