Type information

edit

Could someone please double-check the information about this being the type of Isopogon? Tropicos says the type is I. anemonifolius. Choess (talk) 06:22, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

APNI agrees with Tropicos, so I'll take it out.--Melburnian (talk) 06:34, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I must take this - seems I can not keep off your great articles! Sainsf <^>Talk all words 11:51, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I like this plant more than Isopogon anemonifolius and have bought a few to plant out in my garden...but the other had more information written about it so I did it first. Sadly there are more unknowns with this one but I thought, "What the heck?" I have a bit of a Noah principle and often do these articles in twos... Cool. Do you plan to take this to FAC as well? Sainsf <^>Talk all words 15:00, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lead

edit
  • endemic to coastal areas near Sydney, Australia and in the ranges to the immediate west Here's some comma confusion. Seems like Sydney and Australia are two completely different areas in the plant's range.
I rejigged it a bit Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:47, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • You have expanded the lead very well about the description details. But other parts of the article should also have a good representation in the lead. The second para anyway looks way too short.

Description

edit
  • ...generally taller on more sheltered areas such as woodlands, and shorter in more exposed areas Would be interested to know the "why" of this.
again, finding an explanation will be tricky.... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:04, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not necessary as per the GA criteria, but may be required in FAC. It was actually a suggestion. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 15:00, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • ... and less than 1 mm in diameter Convert. Also in The seed weighs around 4 mg ; ...which have flat leaves and are greater than 1 mm across...

  • Looking at this in the MOS, May 5 1770 is not the appropriate format.

Distribution and habitat

edit
  • Isopogon anethifolius occurs in the Sydney Basin and surrounds, from Braidwood northwards to Mount Coricudgy in Wollemi National Park, the annual rainfall 900 to 1600 mm (35–60 in) How do you surround rainfall?

Cultivation

edit
  • Along with I. dawsonii, Isopogon anethifolius is the easiest member of the genus to grow in cultivation Why is Isopogon abbreviated first and then expanded? Should be the other way round.
yep, switched Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:47, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • If it is the easiest member to cultivate, it is surely a fact relevant enough for the lead?

  • Link screening plant, germinate

The meaning may not be apparent to all at first glance. I researched a bit and found a good explanation for the term which I have added now. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 15:00, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Great job, as always! Those were my comments. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 11:51, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Upon my word, that must have been the fastest GA review I have ever done! OK, so now I find no more faults with the article, at least not from the GAN point of view. So I believe this should be good enough to go. Cheers! Sainsf <^>Talk all words 15:00, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
