Bitcoin reference

PrussianOwl reverted my edit removing the mention of Itch.io accepting Bitcoin (at this point in time they do not) and changed the section I removed to now read that they used to accept Bitcoin, but not any more. While that's not untrue, I strongly object to this for two reasons:

1. Mentioning that Itch.io accepted Bitcoin wasn't particularly encyclopaedic in the first place and mentioning now that they once accepted Bitcoin, but not any more, is even less so. The factoid that an online store used to accept one specific type of currency isn't really relevant in an encyclopaedic article unless we're including it as part of a list of all the currencies the site accepts, the currency itself is somehow unusual (i.e. it uses a proprietary cryptocurrency or some such) or there's something more to the story about why they used to accept the currency and now don't.

2. The reason why I chose to remove the sentence rather than rewrite it in the way it's rewritten now is that the information from the citation does not reflect the current reality and with this edit it now also fails to support the sentence it's a citation for.

I'm restoring back to my original edit until such time as someone can give me a valid reason for why the inclusion of a mention to Bitcoin is necessary for the article and provides a reference that matches the current state of affairs to serve as a citation. I see, I disagree with point one just because notability only applies to topics and not the content within, and that former acceptance of a currency for a web startup seems like a valid inclusion, but two is a fair point. PrussianOwl (talk) 01:23, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

Think of it like this: Mentioning that an online store accepts a specific currency in its article is like mentioning that a celebrity has a specific eye colour in their article. It's a fact about that celebrity, but it isn't a fact relevant to that celebrity's page. Not unless their eye colour is somehow tied to their celebrity status or their eye colour is particularly unusual. If Itch.io accepted Ancient Chinese knife-and-spade money as currency, that would definitely be remarkable enough to be included in the article or, for Bitcoin, if they were one of the very first online stores to accept Bitcoin, that might merit a mention. But as things stand there's really not much justification for singling out Bitcoin in the article. Robrecht (talk) 21:19, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Well, I see what you mean, but I have a much lower bar for facts that can go in an article. For example, I probably would include a mention of a celebrity's eye color in their page, probably in an infobox. PrussianOwl (talk) 07:27, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Agree If somebody insists then it should be in Wikidata or in list of places that used to accept bitcoin. --Greatder (talk) 11:40, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Exported to RPG Museum

On 7 August 2020, the Itch.io page and its complete edit history has been exported from here and imported at RPG Museum (page link), a growing wiki on Fandom that intends to be a resource for all tabletop RPGs. Capitalization of itch.io

Several sources, including the itch.io website itself (especially), this source, and this source, indicate that itch.io is simply written as itch.io (as opposed to Itch.io), including at the beginning of sentences. Shouldn't the article be changed to reflect this? HaiFire3344 (talk) 17:12, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
