Sourcing
editThe Ivor Awards website apparently doesn't have a list of all winners over the years. Is there one somewhere? There's another page which claims that a person is a winner of the award, but they aren't listed here. There's a link to the BBC News which supports the contention, which means this page is lacking. How do we fix it? 216.93.234.239 (talk) 22:17, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Suggestions of amendments
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello Wikipedians, I am an employee of The Ivors Academy and I’d like to propose changes to ensure the information on this page is up to date- all whilst being mindful of Wikipedia's rules about neutrality and sourcing. Changes include:
- Reflecting the change of organisation name from BASCA to The Ivors Academy
- Providing up-to-date information about the awards sponsors
- Providing up-to-date information about award categories
Proposed amendment to opening paragraph:
- change the text from 'British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA)' to 'The Ivors Academy' but keeping the link to The Ivors Academy Wikipedia page
Proposed amendment to current HISTORY section:
(Text in bold indicates new text which I'm proposing to add)
Ivor Novello Awards are presented at two annual ceremonies known as The Ivors (new source link: https://ivorsacademy.com/awards/the-ivors/) and The Ivors Composer Awards (new source link:https://ivorsacademy.com/awards/the-ivors-composer-awards/)
They are respected worldwide as the major platform for recognising and rewarding Britain and Ireland's songwriting and composing talents.[2]
The Ivors takes place each May and since 2019, are sponsored by Apple Music (new source link: https://www.musicweek.com/brands/read/apple-music-to-partner-with-the-ivors-academy-for-ivors-2020/077868)
The Ivors Composer Awards takes place each December and are sponsored by PRS for Music (new source link: https://www.prsformusic.com/m-magazine/news/winners-announced-for-the-ivors-composer-awards-2019/). BBC Radio 3 are the broadcasting partner(new source link: https://mpaonline.org.uk/events/industry-events/the-ivors-composer-awards/)
The Ivors and The Ivors Composer Awards remain the only award ceremonies in the musical calendar that are not influenced by publishers and record companies but judged and presented by the writing community.
The award itself is a solid bronze sculpture of Euterpe, the muse of lyric poetry.[2] It was designed in 1955 by Hazel Underwood.(new source link: https://www.ram.ac.uk/museum/author/54743431)

Any comments do say. Many thanks MusicSupporter2020 (talk) 16:27, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
Comment I've left a notice about the above suggestions at WikiProject Music, and have added the request edit template. I've offered to help MusicSupporter2020 learn the ropes. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 15:39, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Partly done:@Richard Nevell (WMUK):@MusicSupporter2020: I have added the information to the history section and corrected the lead, along with some minor improvements of my own. Regarding some of the changes, gives me a 404 error so I have for the moment I just AGFed it since it doesn't appear particularly dubious or anything; if you can find an archived version on internet archive that would be nice. I am unsure about the awards section, my instinct would be to remove it entirely from the article since it feels like relatively unimportant information (an example of where this kind of information seems warranted would be at Academy_Awards#Awards_of_Merit_categories, where every single one has it's own article), so I have not changed it for now (I haven't removed it either, that would have been a bit reckless). If you disagree feel free to explain why. Cheers, RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 16:11, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- @RandomCanadian: Thank you very much for helping out. I'll see if I can round up the archive link since I'm guessing MusicSupporter2020 may not be familiar with archive.org. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 13:35, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
