Should the page name Ixlu and the redirect at Ixlú be swapped round if the name of the place is really Ixlú? -- SGBailey (talk) 10:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

No need, our (WP:MESO's, anyways) general convention for Mesoamerican site names is not to use the accented char, if the site's name derives wholly from an indigenous (in this case Maya) name, and that language's orthography does not use them. The accented vowel here comes from spanish orthographical conventions (marking stress). Since we are writing in english, the placename is not a spanish one, and the maya name doesn't need or use the accent, then we've elected not to do so either.--cjllw ʘ TALK 15:50, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've now changed all cases of Ixlú to Ixlu. Simon Burchell (talk) 17:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
