editI've just seen this in the news, and it's beginning of September. So that lede about it related to the beginning of Lent has to be wrong. I see something about it having to do with Trinidad’s emancipation in 1834, which i think would be a better opening sentence Somegenerichandle (talk) 21:49, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Major revisions
editI've just completed some pretty substantial revisions to the article, including new sections, new info, and 60+ new refs. Feedback is welcome! I'm hoping some other editors can add additional info and traditions from other Caribbean islands in the "J'ouvert today" section, as well as additional locations around the world that celebrate J'ouvert.
