Notability
editThe guidelines read Leaders of registered political parties at the national or major sub-national (state, province, prefecture, etc.) level are sometimes considered notable despite their party's lack of electoral success. Deb (talk) 08:33, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- WP:NPOL is very clear about it, I don't know what you are citing here.--Greywin (talk) 18:30, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Evidently not. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Common_outcomes#Politicians. If a claim to notability had been included in the original version of the article, I would not have tagged it. Deb (talk) 06:42, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't see your point. Please cite exactly what you mean. WP:NPOL is fully valid without compromise.--Greywin (talk) 09:23, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- An article has to make a claim of notability. Being a member of a party is not such a claim. Being a party chairman for a region is not in itself evidence of notability. The article did not mention that he had held public office until you expanded it. Without that expansion, it did not meet the notability criteria. Deb (talk) 11:25, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Please show me the term public office in WP:NPOL. So party offices on a statewide/sub-national level are obviously included. And I still can't find your citations in the guidelines.--Greywin (talk) 14:50, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- "Just being an elected local official ... does not guarantee notability".Deb (talk) 14:52, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- He is a state official. And that does guarantee notability.--Greywin (talk) 15:00, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Cite: Politicians ... who have held ... sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office. Now you.--Greywin (talk) 15:03, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Watch my lips. The article did not make a claim of notability. Deb (talk) 15:09, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Watching the article closely instead. ;) In this version [1] it did, then you came and made a mistake. That's ok (once), but better admit the obvious instead of denying.--Greywin (talk) 15:30, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- What, you think that adding categories is a claim of notability? Deb (talk) 10:28, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

If I may step in as someone thus far uninvolved, Deb is correct here. At the time of the initial comment, the article did not make any claim to notability. It only did so once you expanded it, Greywin. The act of adding a category to an article does not mean that the notability of the article's subject is automatically accepted. It is purely a maintenance action, independent of any sort of accepting of the substance of the article. StrikerforceTalk 14:46, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- ??? Start reading please. The article text was: Since 2012 he has been chairman of the CDU in the federal state of Bremen. [2] This was sourced with WP:RS, and that is by far enough following WP:NPOL. So the article was clearly notable. I'm of course not referring to the adding of categories.--Greywin (talk) 21:31, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- And this added, I'm really shocked that experienced users obviously are not able to read and understand simple English sentences. :o--Greywin (talk) 21:37, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- To make it crystal clear, see this version [3]--Greywin (talk) 22:53, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
