editWow, American wikipedia editors - way to sanitize a horrific war criminal.96.30.162.10 (talk) 17:52, 10 November 2011 (UTC) WHERE IS HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE BALANGIGA MASSACRE THROUGH COLONEL SMITH IN THE PHILIPPINES? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.190.35.213 (talk) 02:15, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
Clean up War Crimes?
editI think the War Crimes section really needs to be cleaned up. It doesn't seem to be at all balanced, even deleting the previous reference to his receiving the Medal of Honor. Gibblet 02:09, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
This whole article warrants cleanup. I've given it a start and welcome additional help. It was full of inaccuracies regarding his early career. I'll continue to work on it over the weekend. --Spacini 21:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't even think it should be called War Crimes. In the time that this action took place there were few limits on what was a crime regarding war and in fact in most cases any and all means were used to win.--Kumioko (talk) 14:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Execution of POWs is alaways a war crime, regardless of who does it and when. GregorB (talk) 20:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Gore Vidal?!
editWhy in the world is Fiction writer Gore Vidal being quoted on J. Franklin Bell? Even worse, the quote is based on some vague reference to "one of his books"! Vidal wasn't a reliable historian, he was a novelist and told outrageous - if entertaining - tall tales on TV chat shows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rcocean (talk • contribs) 04:21, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

The "War Crimes" Section is seriously biased. Much of the supporting evidence via BG Bell's circulars claiming "war crimes" is taken out of context to the historical record. |
