Talk Page for J. Willard Marriott
editThis article deserves a talk page so changes can be discussed before they are implemented. Barrel-rider 05:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
LDS Influences
editI noticed nothing in the article remarking about the tradition of placing the 'Book of Mormon' along with standard Bibles in Marriott hotel rooms. I think this is unique enough be noted somewhere as long as it is not written in a slanted fashion. Barrel-rider 05:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Mexican Heritage
editWith such strong connection between the Marriott and Romney clans it seems that the lack of reporting of Marriott's influence and guidance of Willard Mitt Romney's Mexican heritage and where his family is in the political and business world of Mexico speaks volumes. An expansion into Mexico for sources of venture capital and opportunities by Marriott and Romney's would be a most logical and natural assumption. The early arrival of Mexican immigrant maid and custodial type labor to the lodging industry and in particular, the Marriott hotel chain would be expected. Other topical questions would be to explore the levels of their political and business successes and most importantly the contacts that may exist with the Mormon church; after all, the exodus of U.S. jobs to Mexico was a hallmark of the decades when Mitt Romney was achieving such business success and the boom of outsourcing. - All very interesting, but I'm afraid this is all original research and forbidden here on Wikipedia. If you can find some reliable and verifiable references, go ahead. But make sure it's NPOV. — Frεcklεfσσt | Talk 22:29, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- The trafficking of human labor by American titans of industry is coming more into focus. My talk topic attempts to invigorate this discussion while siting historical sources to document the advent of. http://www.cis.org/AmericanLaborMarket%2526Immigration referencing "Awareness of this network recruitment system, which has become highly developed by illegal aliens and their employers, is a key to understanding how illegal aliens displace American workers." The innovation and growth of the Marriott enterprise is a distinct beneficiary of this. Final citations are being mined and will be presented. Wikipietime (talk) 03:51, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Why does Citizens United, Mitt Romney and the Marriott empire connection need a Talk topic?
editThe statement by Mitt Romney that corporations are "people" epitomized the evolutionary and revolutionary transformation of industry in the U.S. One might ask, why Mitt Romney is doing in a Willard Marriott talk page for possible inclusion into the Wikipedia repository. Essentially, Mitt Romney became the heir apparent of the business visionary Willard Marriott; channeling, if you will. The early innovations of Willard Marriott morphed into a new era via Mitt Romney. Wikipietime (talk) 13:37, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- What? Does this have anything to do with improving the article? — Frεcklεfσσt | Talk 13:45, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like I have put the cart before the horse. I put this talk discussion up for some a few colleagues to consider for an addition to the article. Perhaps, that submission should have been first. Nevertheless, It will be in a few days. There is a letter from the lodging industry to President Bush, co signed by Marriott, that states the industry position on immigration. Crafting this topic into an acceptable contribution is challenging. Wikipietime (talk) 21:31, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
