- I ran into this issue over at Miss'd America. I ended up listing the establishment year as "1990s" in the infobox, then explained the discrepancy in this detail in the sourcing in the prose. Armadillopteryx 16:45, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- Armadillopteryx, Thanks for the suggestion. I had "1980s" in the article until I came across 1978. I've asked someone to search the Houston Chronicle archives for any more sources, so hopefully some clarification may be on the way. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:52, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- The newspaper clippings shown here show advertisements for the grand opening on April 22, 1982. The 1986 date may refer to when Charles Armstrong purchased the bar. Thrillist may have gotten the 1978 date from the opening of Montrose Mining Company, which was located next to JR's and had the same owner. Stedil (talk) 05:41, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
