J Christ (song)J ChristJ Christ is currently a redirect to Jesus.[1] However, a discussion at Talk:Jesus#J Christ seems to show that the primary topic may indeed be this newly-released Lil Nas X song. I'm not aware of any reliable secondary source that commonly refers to Jesus as "J Christ". 162 etc. (talk) 21:23, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Support: As others have noted on the Jesus talk page, the J Christ redirect saw little usage prior to this song so this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 00:54, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support and remove redirect. The redirect was added in 2005 by a now banned editor and served little purpose. Now it confuses. O3000, Ret. (talk) 01:02, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
A redirect to the disambiguated title doesn't make sense. If J Christ and J Christ (song) are the same article, why would we keep the excessive disambiguation? 162 etc. (talk) 04:00, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Because that's how the title would show up in searches. Disambiguation is still necessary. Walrasiad (talk) 10:12, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oppose the redirect idea; see WP:OVERPRECISION. 162 etc. (talk) 16:22, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support, clearly the primary topic. Also agree with 162 etc. in regards to the redirect. Sock (tock talk) 16:42, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support redirect of “J Christ” to the song article. I also would support removal of “(song)” from the article title per WP:OVERPRECISE, rendering the redirect moot. Finally, I see no reason to add a disambig; as others have pointed out, “J Christ” was rarely used prior to the song’s release and was implemented by a now-banned editor. (One could also question why “J Christ” didn’t redirect to Jesus in Christianity…). Finally, thanks to 162 etc. for taking this on. Jtrevor99 (talk) 20:22, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose the main use is an expletive. A 30-charting song in Netherlands. Come on. This shouldn't even have an article. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:39, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@In ictu oculi: You do realise the charts for this week of release haven't been published yet, right? So that is not the only country it will end up charting in, it's just that the Netherlands Tipparade chart is published earlier than the UK, US, and all the other world charts. You also clearly haven't seen the amount of general news coverage and notoriety amongst conservatives this song and its video have gotten. It is absolutely without a doubt notable. Support I'm surprised the redirect already existed, and now, of course, this is the primary topic. PuppyMonkey (talk) 23:52, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. J Christ means Jesus. It’s so obvious, it doesn’t need usage to demonstrate. Nothing is confusing with the current setup, but the proposed is much more likely to confuse. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 13:35, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's confusing to the dozens of people a day who search "J Christ" and arrive at Jesus. As seen in the graph, prior to this song's release, the J Christ redirect was seeing no traffic at all. 162 etc. (talk) 20:00, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
People looking for the Jesus article will be typing "Jesus" in the search bar and not "J Christ". 2001:8A0:77EF:8600:E46A:6C28:457C:94A1 (talk) 21:34, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I requested a redirect titled J Christ (person) on WP:AFC/R so I won't be sad. 134.199.113.124 (talk) 21:48, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do we want a hatnote to Jesus at the top or not? 162 etc. (talk) 02:56, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Considering how little the redirect was used prior to this song, I doubt it's needed. No one types in J Christ looking for Jesus. They'd use "Jesus" or "Christ" or "Jesus Christ". There's not even a page at "J. Christ" for example, which would be the correct abbreviation. CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 15:43, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
