Sources
editNo source is listed for his being "instrumental in creating several new production models," which is a rather dubious claim in itself, since as the lead of design, J Mays can be considered to be "instrumental" in the production of quite nearly all vehicles in the Ford lineup, especially those he directly supervises. I make note that no mention is given of his involvement with the low-selling Ford Five Hundred, so it would appear to me that the user who made the edit in question is showing favorable bias to Mr. Mays. The contextual use of the word "creating" comes dangerously close to "designing," which would be quite injurious to British (and Swedish) egos. I'm changing "creating" to "the production of," since it shows less favorable bias to Mr. Mays. --Tvs117 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tvs117 (talk • contribs) 00:34, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Dispute
editThe article states that the development of Audi's TT was designed by Mays' Art Center colleague and head of Ford Strategic Design Freeman Thomas. So - why would a Ford designer be involved in designing an Audi??? This needs an appropriate reliable third party reference, or this highly contestible info should be removed. 78.32.143.113 (talk) 12:04, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thomas worked on the Concept 1 and TT in the early 1990s. He didn't join Ford until 2005 [1]. Letdorf (talk) 14:10, 14 January 2010 (UTC).
- Thanks for fixing the dates (which was the stumbling point regarding the Audi TT) and tidying the article. It makes much more sense now. :) 78.32.143.113 (talk) 07:51, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Photo
editThe profile picture is displaying a picture of James May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_May), british TV show presenter for Top Gear. That is not the picture of J Mays (designer for Ford).
