General: Article is new enough and long enough

Hook eligibility:

QPQ: Done.

Overall:   Thanks for this interesting article. The only problem is that nowhere in the article is it actually stated that he worked on the dictionary for more than half a century - I can only see that it was first published in 1984, which is only 36 years ago. Having a look at the citation with Google Translate, it does appear that it mentions fact, but this needs to be reflected in the article as well. Otherwise good to go. @GGT and Krakkos: I am native. Given source ([1]) explicitly says that he worked over 50 years with his Hettite dictionary. But it is hard to find other sources which states the same. However, good allusions here: et:Kasutaja:EeroBot/ETBL/Jaan Puhvel (eg find the year "1954")--Estopedist1 (talk) 06:22, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the review, GGT. I have now ensured that the information on which the hook is based is now mentioned at the article Jaan Puhvel. Thanks for verifying the source, Estopedist1. Krakkos (talk) 09:59, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot to both - this is now good to go! --GGT (talk) 21:51, 24 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  •   Please add an inline cite to this sentence: This project is the culmination of more than a half a century of work by Puhvel. per WP:DYK#Cited hook. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 21:44, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yoninah, i have now added an inline citation for the sentence in question. Krakkos (talk) 21:49, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mistake in the article?

edit

According to the cited "Keel and Kirjandus" article his father was not a civil engineer, but "maamõõtja", that means surveyor. As it is a GA, this is an important matter. Żyrafał (talk) 23:45, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
