COI tag (December 2023)
editRecent edits by an IP editor appear to be COI either by or on behalf of the article subject. The article was created in 2007 by a SPA with the same username as the name of a co-author of most of the books listed in the article. Geoff | Who, me? 14:58, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
How is citation provided for an honorary doctorate? 47.204.186.215 (talk) 16:51, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- It needs to have been covered in a reliable source. And if you have any connection with the subject you should not be editing this article. Lard Almighty (talk) 17:05, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- For example, an item in a newsletter of the university granting the doctorate would suffice. In general, just about every sentence past the lede should be backed up in a direct manner by a citation, generally to a reliable independence secondary source. Maintenance template
editWhen will the general template at the start of the listing be removed? 47.204.186.215 (talk) 21:14, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- There are very few citations. Essentially every sentence should be backed by a citation to a reliable independent source, modulo a few exceptions (mostly WP:BLPSPS for very routine claims like career arc). This is the main problem with the article. WP:V is one of the pillars of Wikipedia. There is a huge primary sourced research section, with no sources outside of papers of the subject. These are partially fixable, and the banners can be removed when fixed, or it could possibly be moved to a section banner. The article has been the target of a lot of COI editing, and the COI banner likely should remain for the foreseeable future. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 23:07, 17 December 2023 (UTC) See WP:RS for more on reliable sources. Note that citation and referencing standards are a fair bit different on Wikipedia than in (most) academic writing. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 23:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the great editing, Russ.

Maintenance Template
editWhen will leading maintenance template be removed? 47.204.186.215 (talk) 20:12, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- When all the issues are fixed. The COI one needs to remain until all COI are resolved and we can be sure that no one with a COI is continuing to edit the article. Lard Almighty (talk) 20:32, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Would you please let me re site maintenance when the “maintenance template” over “multiple issues” will be removed from the start of my wiki entry. It’s off-putting. Thanks for great editing. Jay 47.204.186.215 (talk) 14:45, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid this post highlights precisely why they need to remain. This article has been heavily edited by you (the admitted subject) so the COI needs to remain. The other issues have not yet been fully resolved, and the tags are there to alert editors that work is still needed on the article.. Lard Almighty (talk) 15:32, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
