mission statement and disclaimer(s)
edithello, wiki community... thanks to the many individuals who have already put effort into guiding this article into existence. This is my very first wiki venture, so I'm still learning both coding and conduct. My apologies.
The reason for this article is to create a place to aggregate as much information and media as possible for SFC Jacob E. Schlereth. Primarily, this is to provide background on the honoree of the memorial scholarship detailed in the article. The subject of this article is my wife's first husband and I am raising his son. This page is an effort to memorialize SFC Schlereth for his friends and family and offer an understanding of who the man was to future donors and recipients of the scholarship at Auburn University's College of Engineering.
There are calls for citations and I am attempting to get them, but the U.S. Army is not the easiest place to get assistance of information from. Other biographical information is available only from his surviving family and soldiers who served with him and they have been consulted in creating this article. Secondly, the inclusion of the excerpt from 60 MINUTES is critical as it is a unique profile of the man as a person and in his career as a soldier. I am attempting to utilize this video clip in concordance with Wikipedia's copyright stipulations, but understand that this media has been made publicly available on their own YouTube channel and I have simply added this excerpt to provide a dynamic biography of the subject. I hope that this will not jeopardize the inclusion of this video in the article.
Thank you for your guidance and your grace to a first-timer who's just trying to do a good thing.
