Merger

edit

I completely disagree with the placement of the merger tag on this page. It's not this page that needs to be merged with The Bionic Woman, but some details of the PLOT section of The Bionic Woman that need to be moved here. This page should be about the character of Jaime Sommers; that page should be about the history of the television program.—CzechOut 00:06, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Then place a merge to template in the plot section for Bionic Woman, and a Merge From template in here and start a discussion about it. Or just be bold and move the info that you don't think should be over there. Hewinsj 13:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Please note that the original comment dates back to October of 2006 and no longer refers to a current issue. No merge occurred and the tag was subsequently removed. Since then there's been expansion done of both this article and the one for Steve Austin so I don't believe there's any current desire to merge anything. If the new series continues, a case could be made for splitting off the current Michelle Ryan incarnation into her own article. 23skidoo 14:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
My bad, saw that it was October, but forgot to check the Year. Hewinsj 15:26, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Backstory

edit

What is the source for information regarding the date of her parents car crash, her birth year, etc.? I don't recall any of this being mentioned on screen. I could be wrong. Also, for some reason Jaime's infobox said she held the rank of colonel. I'm assuming that's a holdover from the box being copied from the Steve Austin page. 23skidoo 15:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Femmeskydiver.JPG

edit

Image:Femmeskydiver.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

New version

edit

I've been able to shorten this article down a bit by removing most of the discussion regarding the 2007 version of the character, as a separate article on her has now been created. Most of what was here wasn't really useable in the new article, however, because it mostly dealt with early press reports about casting, etc -- material now outdated since the series has now debuted. 23skidoo 13:37, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not done - seems IMDB have a typo. A note - IMDB should never be taken as a reliable source as their content is just as user-generated as Wikipedia's. Neıl 12:57, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Changing the spelling

edit

I read a newspaper article that said the character in the 1970s TV series was named Jamie, but that the character in the 2007 TV series was named Jamie. The official cast list on imdb.com and the imdb character page both spell the name Jamie. Of course, this requires not only a move, but also changing the spelling throughout this and other articles. I'd be happy to attempt this, but I need permission since I can't be absolutely sure the information I have is really correct.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is there a typo in this request as both from & to names are the same? Keith D (talk) 23:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
They're both wrong. Both characters were spelled Jaime as evidenced by on-screen materials, shooting scripts and merchandise. See The Bionic Wiki for more. —scarecroe (talk) 03:59, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Keith D, they're not the same.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:31, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vchimpanzee, you wrote "Jamie" both times in your first sentence above. However, both the Bionic Wiki (referring to the 1970s series) and the Bionic Woman Wiki (referring to the new series) spell it "Jaime", so I think IMDB just has a typo. I'm trying to clear out the backlog at WP:RM; any objection to my removing this discussion from that page? —Angr If you've written a quality article... 09:28, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infobox

edit

Couple of things I'm changing. Michelle Ryan shouldn't be credited as playing this character, because she didn't and the character is not a cyborg -she's human. (And this is stressed several times in the series) Just parts of her body became replaced with artificial ones.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 17:54, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Actually she is a cyborg. That's the concept of Martin Caidin's original novel upon which the original series was based in part. However, it is incorrect to refer to her as "cyborg" in terms of species so your edit is good. However it is perfectly correct to refer to her -- and the Michelle Ryan version -- as cyborgs as Caidin's definition of cyborg is a human who has had major components replaced by machines. I'd oppose taking Ryan's name off if there wasn't a separate article for the 2007 version of the character, though I would expect that the two articles will probably be merged. 23skidoo (talk) 18:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Night Vision

edit

How did she get night vision when Steve is the one with the bionic eyeball? 173.86.10.33 (talk) 03:36, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
