Leading?
edit"In 1929, as Reed was leading the Senate, H.L. Mencken wrote a tribute to him..." How could he lead the Senate? Shouldn't this mean "as Reed was leaving the Senate"? --Scooter (this one) 14:05, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Agreed, Scooter. I plan to replace "leading" with the far less unambiguous "retiring" and add the citation for Mencken's editorial in the American Mercury. --Menckenire (talk) 16:24, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Is this notable?

Dead Link
editThe link to Mencken's editorial at pages.prodigy.net is dead. See: External Links. "Mencken's Tribute to Reed." The editor responsible for checking dead links should perhaps look into this matter and verify if the site has been taken down. If so, that will probably affect all the other citations leading to pages.prodigy.net. --Menckenire (talk) 16:48, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
