Sedevacantist
editFather Altman has never claimed to be a sedevacantist. Please refrain from adding this description. Kimbies (talk) 20:35, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
- One does not need to claim to be something for a label to be accurately applied to them.

- In this case, one does need to claim the label. The meaning of sedevacantist as it is understood by Catholics today is that one does not accept any pope after V2, and this is not the position that Altman holds. Kimbies (talk) 13:03, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- From the corresponding article: Sedevacantism (Latin: Sedevacantismus) is a doctrinal position within traditionalist Catholicism, which holds that the present occupier of the Holy Seeis not a valid pope due to his espousal of one or more heresies and that, for lack of a valid pope, the See of Rome is vacant.
- Fr. Altman's recent video is titled "Bergoglio is not the Pope."

- Per WP:SYNTH, it is not up to Wikipedia to interpret whether or not the label should apply. To include "Sedevacantist", you'll need a reliable source that explicitly describes Altman as such. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:11, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- If people/sites as ideologically diverse as Mike Lewis / WPI, 1Peter5, Michael Lofton / Reason And Theology, and NovusOrdoWatch (The majority of whom agree with Altman on most of his perspectives) view him as a Sede, then I think it's a fair label. I'm not going to make the change unless there seems to be a change of consensus, though.

- Father Altman has explicitly
- ated that he does not consider himself a sedevacantist. What other people/groups label him as is besides the point. t

- Mike Lewis and Michael Lofton are both very outspoken critics of Altman. Novus Ordo Watch has not described him as a sede. Kimbies (talk) 18:52, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

editIs there any public source that can tell us when and where this man was born, who his parents were, in what parish he grew up, and where he went to school before going to seminary? J S Ayer (talk) 20:20, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- If you find one let me know. I looked for one around 6 months ago, using all the resources that I have at my disposal, and came up empty. Maximilian775 (talk) 02:00, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
