Eight barrels?
editMost of the minigun articles I've read, such as the GAU-17 and the M61 Vulcan state that six barrels is the norm. So -- eight? -- • Kurt Guirnela • ‡ Talk 01:30, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have corrected the number for tomas' version. I counted seven. Six barrels could be because to give the breechblock time and space to align the next catridge into position. The original Vulcan guns liked those used in The Last Samurai) actually has eight barrels. It's not too farfetched to build vulcans with at least nine barrels.Eaglestorm 03:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- The Gatling Gun of the 1860's (of The Last Samurai vintage) definitely had six barrels. See Gatling Gun M1865. Vulcans (which are the modern weapons) maybe, yes would have theoretically more barrels, but the old Gatlings had only six. -- • Kurt Guirnela • ‡ Talk 03:50, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
