Image copyright problem with File:Gemini Four patch.jpg
editThe image File:Gemini Four patch.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

McDevitt Street in Vandercook Lake
editI have removed the reference to the street in Vandercook Lake, Michigan, because I believe it is an error. Despite its proximity to Jackson College, it seems to be a coincidence. When I used to work at Jackson College, I was told that the street had nothing to do with James McDivitt. Although I cannot provide a citation showing that it is not named for him, I will point out that it is spelled different: "McDevitt" with an E. If someone has a citation showing that there is a McDivitt street in Vandercook Lake named for James McDivitt, then of course it should be re-included. Bunnyhugger (talk) 22:36, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your edit. You are certainly under no obligation to provide a citation that something is not true ("proving a negative"); indeed our guidelines place the burden of verifiability on the person who added the information. The spelling difference by itself seems pretty good proof that it was a mistake. JustinTime55 (talk) 19:48, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
35th Bombardment Squadron?
editAccording to its page the 35th Bombardment Squadron was inactivated on 27 June 1949, so he can't have flown with it during the Korean War. Should this be 35th Fighter Squadron? Mztourist (talk) 08:06, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. Corrected. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:18, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Comments
- I would merge the single-sentence opening "para" of the lead with the second para, and start the second sentence with "He".
- Changed as suggested. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Also USAF is overlinked and abbreviated on the second instance.
- Corrected. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "Apollo Lunar Module" Apollo is part of the formal title.
- Only on Wikipedia, but sure. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "brigadier general" this is capitalised in the infobox?
- Correct, per MOS:MILTERMS. Ranks are conventionally capitalised in the Infoboxes for the benefit of automated processes that use them. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "rank of Tenderfoot Scout" no need to repeat Scout.
- Piped. Strange but true: American men list their boy scout experience on their resumes. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "in July 1962.[5] By September 1962" repetitive, perhaps "The following September" or "Two months later..."?
- Deleted "1962". Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "EVA ("spacewalk")" bit late in the article to start saying what EVA means to laypeople.
- Moved the term up. I had thought that the term was obsolete, but Google ngrams says it is still in use. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "He got a camera and took" do we need, "got a camera and"?
- You're right; I don't think he went round to Ted's and bought one. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Is there a link for Mylar insulation?
- "commander (CDR) of" CDR doesn't seem to be used anywhere?
- Resolved. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "commanded by Frank Borman, with" overlinked.
- Unlinked
- "the CM and" what's CM?
- Command Module. Changed to CSM to keep things consistent. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- PLSS isn't used anywhere.
- "and a Director" why is this capitalised?
- De-capped. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- "NASA Exceptional Service Medal.[23]" no full stop.
- "Hall of Fame in 2012.[40]" similarly
- Deleted similarly. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- ref 16, %?
- Typo. Deleted. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Ref 22: "he American Presidency"?
- Typo. Added. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Ref 50, 51, we don't normally consider IMDB a reliable source.
- Do I need more reasons to vote to abolish Pop Culture sections? Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
That's all for me. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 13:30, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

- ... that astronaut James McDivitt (pictured) saw a UFO during his first spaceflight? Source: "he story of how I became a UFO expert! Well, what happened was that we were low on fuel and the spacecraft was just tumbling through space, end over end and sideways and all over. Ed was asleep. We were taking turns sleeping. And Ed was asleep, and I was doing something in the spacecraft. I looked outside, just glanced up, and there was something out there. It had a geometrical shape similar to a beer can or a pop can, and with a little thing like maybe like a pencil or something sticking out of it. That relative size, dimensionally. It was all white."
