Fabric live CD
editMurphy released a CD on the FabricLive series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FabricLive.36 which isn't in his discography and probably should be. It was fairly well reviewed by places https://www.residentadvisor.net/reviews/4954 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.83.73.16 (talk) 20:38, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Seinfeld
edit'At age 22, Murphy was offered a job writing for what was then a little-known sitcom named Seinfeld. He did not expect the show to be successful and chose to continue with music instead.[citation needed]"
I see this listed on some various websites, but really, how can this be verified; without any real sources, it is pretty irrelevent to the bio of a musician, don't you think? I mean, where in his bio do we see that he has been a script writer before or after?
- I put the bit back in, with a citation. I also don't think it's irrelevant as this is a bio of a person, not a musical project, hence why it's not put on the LCD Soundsystem page. Plum743 12:50, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- He mentions his connection to Seinfeld in an interview on the Sound Opinions podcast from December 3. The story on his wiki page is wrong - how he tells it, he thought he was being offered a job with the Garry Shandling Show, and it wasn't that he "chose" to continue music, he just forgot about sending in his writing samples. Years later, he found all the documents he had from that time and realized that the show was actually Seinfeld. 144.96.44.122 (talk) 18:04, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Uh.
Vandalism at the bottom of the article here?
removal of rock DJ
edityes james murphy does disc jockey. however, he best characterized as a musician first and foremost. playing records / djing has been has become more popular for large audiences and individuals like mr. murphy who have captialized on it.
also, james murphy isn't strictly a rock dj in the sense clint boon or jarvis cocker are, he's more adept and electronic.
gay?
editIsn't he gay? I've met him many times and always thought so, but now that I think about it I'm not totally sure. Aroundthewayboy 03:24, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- He's married as far as I know. I think she was in an electoclash band.Secretlondon 16:33, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
A lot of married men are gay. -anonymous
- "I t’s early on a Saturday, and Murphy is stumbling around his apartment with his wife, a model turned designer named Mandy Coon. They live in Williamsburg, in a refurbished building next to a garage adorned with orangutan graffiti." Quoth New York Magazine.... though I do wish he were gay.... he's hot as all fuck.--PulpAffliction 02:37, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
As could be expected?
editAs could be expected, the Canadians lost, and the band could no longer use their original name.
What is that supposed to mean, exactly? I guess I know what it's supposed to mean, but it doesn't seem very unbiased.
What did Murphy do from 1993 to 2007?
editWhy does the article jump right to 2007 after 1993? It seems to me that some of the things he did in between are also noteworthy.--Merijn2 (talk) 15:08, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Notable quote: The best way to complain is to make things
editThe quote "The best way to complain is to make things" is attributed to James Murphy https://lifehacker.com/5688167/the-best-way-to-complain-is-to-make-things and often quoted: https://www.google.com/search?q="The+best+way+to+complain+is+to+make+things" most of the time with explicit attribution to James Murphy. Do other editors think it is worth adding to the article? Or better to add to Wikiquote? Which is more appropriate (if it is relevant enough)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tantek (talk • contribs) 03:04, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
