That Indoor pool

edit

So, does anybody know if that pool has water in it, or is it kept empty? FrozenPurpleCube 01:36, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

FDR's indoor pool was drained when the floor was put on top of it. It allows easy access to all the wires and cables under the floor that are needed for the news media. Hillary had the pool evaluated during the Clinton admin, and it was intact. She hoped to have it renovated and have the briefing room and press offices moved to a new facility to be built under the West Wing drive, but the idea didn't get past the planning phase.[1] The Bush 2 admin has not released a plan (as far as I know) for exactly what is being done with the space now, just that the whole briefing room/press offices space is being renovated. Perhaps the pool is being removed so that more basement offices can be added. --Tysto 18:10, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Update: The room was reopened today. The pool remains intact. The walls, wiring, and ventilation got upgraded and they added a couple of fake columns to tart up the place. --Tysto 17:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Renaming

edit

Why was this article moved from "Press Briefing Room (White House)" to "Press Briefing Room"? There are a million press briefing rooms in the world, all of which are called "Press Briefing Room." --Tysto 17:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

To quote the move log, by User:GearedBull "no need for parentheotcal White House moniker, Category links it to White House". I'd rather the page was at "James S. Brady Press Briefing Room". --Signed and Sealed, JJJJust (T C) 23:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
