Notability

edit

from WP:BAND

>Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria

>Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, such as a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read the policy and notability guideline on subjects notable only for one event, for further clarifications).

Valta has performed for KCD, which is notable. About having this article merged into KCD, first consider that he is the composer for KCD and KCD2, so merging it would mean you would have to repeat the same thing in both articles or lose out on one of the articles having this information. He also has worked on other shows but I haven't included that yet in the article although I plan to. I also think Valta falls under at least one of the following criteria:

from WP:COMPOSER

>Has written a composition that has won (or in some cases been given a second or other place) in a major music competition not established expressly for newcomers.

Valta won the Special Achievement in Multimedia Award from the International Festival of Film Music and Multimedia Soundtrack Poděbrady. I don't know how major that award is.

from WP:NMUSICOTHER

>Is cited in reliable sources as being influential in style, technique, repertory, or teaching for a particular music genre.

He is cited by Dr. James Cooks, who has a doctorate on Fifteenth-Century English Mass Cycles (university page), as possibly "re-habilitating" historically based medieval music. Cook goes into great detail about Valta's work (23 pages) so I feel that makes it notable. I would say Valta is certainly influential in style and technique in the genre of historically based medieval music (and video game music, if that is a genre) as he worked on novel ideas in that field and has been recognized in academic writing for hist contributions.

Also, there is a lot more that could be added about his work on KCD from Cooks' work, so in terms of potential depth of the article there is still a lot more room. I also expect that Valta will get more coverage after the release of KCD2 J2UDY7r00CRjH (talk) 09:03, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
