editIsn't it time to replace my sorry stub Japan Shogi Association with this page? (Prod, prod) – ishwar (speak) 19:15, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- I was actually going to ask your opinion about this, but keep letting myself get distracted by other things. I was not aware that a stub existed. As for whether this is ready or not, I was going to continue to search for better sources. I figured there should be some more usable stuff in English since the whole Miura thing is back in the news now that he's been found to not have done anything wrong and the JSA has officially apologized to him. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:01, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know that much (except that is looks like a mess). Recently, I saw a collection of English language news links about Miura here: http://81dojo.com/en/?jump=announcements/170103en.html Maybe some things are useful?
- I just made the stub. It's terrible of course. I somehow stumbled on this page though, which is obviously better. I've always tended to treat wikipedia like a wiki: add stuff bit by bit & hopefully others will contribute if they see skimpy pages. So, I'm also making other terrible pages... – ishwar (speak) 21:35, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- I saw the 81dojo stuff the other day. The official article(s) might be usable, but some of the links seem to be to translations of original Japanese content and it's not clear if they would satisfy WP:UGC. I don't think too much detail about the whole thing really needs to be added anyway; maybe one or (at the most) two more sentences would be sufficient to summarize what happened. Some of the Miura references may actually be able to be "ref named" for some other parts of the article as well.
- I actually was going to submit this via AfC since I tend to be a pedant when it comes to Wikipedia stuff. Since a stub already exists, most of what I've been working can probably just be added to the stub if it's useful. Otherwise, simply moving this as is would mean two articles on the same subject, which is generally not a good idea. Since you're an admin, you have the tools to do a history merge for both this draft and this talk page. So, if you want to do that, then go ahead. The only thing which might need some checking are the references. Some of the urls may have been overwritten since I first added them, but there should be archived versions available via Wayback. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:31, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

- The stub doesnt say anything that this page doesn't. So, there's no reason to keep it. You can submit this through the Articles for Creation. I was just wondering whether it really needed to remain hidden. – ishwar (speak) 16:35, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- The content may be overlapping, but two of the same anything in the mainspace is not really a good idea. An AfC reviewer would almost immediately notice there is a duplicate and probably advise against trying to force create the same article twice. Simply copying and pasting bits of the content from here into could probably be done per WP:CWW, but replacing the stub with this would probably require a history merge of some kind, which is something I think only an admin can do. I'll ask at WP:AN to see if anyone can help. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:43, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oops, I didn't notice you deleted the stub when I posted the above. Not sure that was necessary since now the edit history for the stub has been removed. Will the stub's edit history reappear if this is moved to the mainspace now under the same name? If it does then we still might need a history merge. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:48, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

- There's nothing in the stub that is worth keeping. So, there's no reason to preserve the stub edit history. The stub was basically made in error since I didn't know this page existed. Merging histories makes sense when two articles on the same topic have significant editing history. This is not that as everything in the stub is subsumed by your draft.
- But, to answer your question: no, I don't think the edit history will reappear.
- We can do a merge if you insist. But, it seems pointless to me. – ishwar (speak) 03:22, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- If a merge is not needed than fine with me. I didn't know the stub existed until your first post, and then did really look at its edit history to see how many others may have edited it. If the only significant contributor was you, then basically the stub was WP:G7. You're an admin, you created the stub and you deleted the stub, so that's fine with me. You can just move this into the mainspace right now if you feel it's ready. You have the tools to do all the clean up (if any is needed) and I'm fine either way. I only put it in my userspace because that was what someone suggested to me back when I started editing in Wikipedia. It could've have just as easily been added as a draft. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:38, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Shadanhojin translation
edit@Ish ishwar: There seems to be a bit of discrepency in the translation you've used for 社団法人 in the "History" section and the one used in the "Status" section. I'm not sure where I "Membership Association" from; I think it was somewhere online, but if "corporate person" is the more accurate of the two, then it can be used throughout. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:56, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, i missed that. Yeah, i think it might more accurate (although i dont know much about Japanese law). It's a dictionary translation. I also see 'corporate juridical entity' as the most precise one where (the very jargonish) juridical entity means something like a thing with legal rights similar to a human person, and 'corporation' may be used when precision is not needed. – ishwar (speak) 15:34, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
Move of content from "Players" section
edit@Ish ishwar: It looks like you moved most of this section to Professional shogi player. That's fine, but I think there should be at a least a short general paragraph left in the section, so that it is not just a heading and a hatnote; otherwise, someone else might come along and either remove the entire section or try and re-add much of the same content. Also, you might want to add a dummy edit with an edit sum to the professional shogi player article linking back to this article so that it's clear that the content was copied-and-pasted from this article to that article per WP:CWW. This will keep WP:PATT in order and make sure it's clear in the destination article, that the edit history for this content can be found in the source article. A template {{copied}} could be left on the talk pages as well. If I caught you mid-cleanup and you intend to do this, then my bad. Otherwise, please consider it.
Finally, some of the subsections in the "Player" section were wikilinked to from other articles, and these links are most likely broken and will simply redirect to the top of the JSA article. This can be fixed by either WP:ANCHOR so that they redirected when clicked on or by fixing the links themselves. Most of the links were probably added to player articles for "Apprentice school" or "Female professional", but there may be some also in the main shogi article or the articles about tournaments. Again, if your intent is to get to this later, then no problem: otherwise, it probably needs to be done. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:56, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- ok – ishwar (speak) 17:53, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I asked at WP:VP/T about the links and was told that they need to be fixed manually. There's not too many of them, so I'll try and get around to cleaning them up a bit later. The other stuff about the attribution and paragraph seems easily enough to do as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:40, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- i didnt know that this insource function. Maybe good to know in the future. – ishwar (speak) 22:06, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I see you've already cleaned up the links. Thanks for doing that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:48, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, i think i got all the links. I just did it manually via an exhaustive whatlinkshere inspection. Your other things remain... – ishwar (speak) 22:04, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
