White Plains or Kalinin Bay?
editIn this article it says that Chokai was severely damaged by a lucky hit from Kalinin Bay, but in the book "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors", if I'm remembering correctly, Kalinin Bay's Sister, White Plains was the ship that fired the lucky shot. Can anyone confirm one or the other? AJB93 (talk) 14:22, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Armament.
editIn the article on the Takao, it says the original single 4.7in guns were replaced by twin 4.7in guns for a total of eight (the page on the Chokai says 5in guns), and that the number of torpedo tubes was increased to 16. Was this only done to the Takao and not her sister ships? None of the other pages mentions this (except for the Chokai saying it had it's 4x 4.7in guns replaced by "dual purpose twin 5in guns"). It doesn't even mention it on the main page for the Takao-class cruiser, although that page and this one both refer to the "Original armament" in this specs, without saying anything about what came after. Seems kind of lame. — Preceding unsigned comment added by .45Colt (talk • contribs) 15:10, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Inconsistencies in articles "USS Samuel B. Roberts", "Japanese cruiser Chokai", and "Japanese cruiser Chikuma"
editRegarding the Battle off Samar, the article "USS Samuel B. Roberts" reports that that vessel severed the stern of Chokai, set her bridge afire, then fought her famous gunnery duel with Chikuma, causing damage to that ship's superstructure.
The article "Japanese cruiser Chokai" does not mention USS Samuel B. Roberts; attributes severe damage to a gun hit from an escort carrier destroying her torpedoes; and does not mention any torpedo hits in that engagement.
The article "Japanese cruiser Chikuma" reports that it was Chikuma who had her stern severed, but attributes the torpedo attack to TBF Avengers. It also makes no mention of USS Samuel B. Roberts.
Can these three articles be brought into agreement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.9.21.230 (talk) 19:28, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
