the owl is common in japan.They are found in braches and holes of hollow trees. the body can be tan. but mostly the body is black and white and the eyes are strikingly red shade and sometimes yellow. the owl is simular to the ryuku scops owl and the male makes a low sad sounding whoop and the female makes a higher pitched whoop.
