REDIRECT from Jason Pargin

edit

This redirect [ Jason Pargin ] has no reason to exist. The only page that linked to it was the page it is a redirect to. May I suggest it be deleted? --70.139.9.215 (talk) 02:37, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

If someone searches Jason Pargin it should be directed to this article. -- Esemono (talk) 09:13, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I would argue that the page should be named for his actual name, Jason Pargin, and that this should be referenced on the David Wong disambiguation page. The article should also consistently refer to him throughout by his real name. This would be consistent with how pen names are normally treated on Wikipedia (e.g., "A. N. Roquelaure" redirects to Anne Rice). Many people have been misled into accepting this pseudonym as a real name, and Wikipedia should not be complicit in this by simply acknowledging the real name "Jason Pargin" in passing and then ignoring it thereafter. 70.24.5.250 (talk) 11:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
70.24.5.250, the standard practice on Wikipedia is to use the subject's common name as attested by reliable sources, not their "real" name. In this case, the subject edits Cracked and has written two novels under his pen name "David Wong". Articles seem split on whether to use the pseudonym or the real name throughout the article, like with Anne Rice (for example, Little Tich is called "Little Tich" throughout, but The Notorious B.I.G. is called by his real name throughout). It probably depends on context and the way reliable sources refer to them. The sources cited here appear divided.--Cúchullain t/c 13:55, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Page created as a way to promote a book/movie

edit

Author is not notable beyond the book, excellent comedic writing at Cracked.com notwithstanding. I recommend deletion. Soxwon (talk) 07:21, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion

edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the author is a noted Internet celebrity, Author and editor of the most popular comedy website online --Esemono (talk) 10:41, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Niche audience, notability would dictate that you would have reliable sources talking about him beyond his book and movie. I would suggest merging this page into the John Dies at the End page. Soxwon (talk) 23:10, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
You are the only one calling for deletion or merging on the talk page, he's released another book while the first one was successful enough to have a movie adaptation with Paul Giamatti, and there are numerous interviews easily found online. Why take away from a compendium of human knowledge for no reason? What does that really do to make wikipedia better for everyone that isn't you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.233.45.201 (talk) 07:44, 29 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
