Corrupt climate data

edit

I dont know how to get climate data out of https://climate.weather.gc.ca/ , ... can somebody help? All I know is that there is an error in the precip data, since the rainfall for August is greater than the total precip, as if there were somehow negative snow. This is an extremely minor error, but may indicate a corrupt source, and greater errors may be present. But https://climate.weather.gc.ca/ doesnt seem to host climate data, only historical weather data, meaning I can look at only one year at a time, making it useless for building climate tables. Thanks, Soap 02:09, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think I may have found it, but the site only provides data for "Jasper Eastgate" and this is quite at variance with what we have, so perhaps I did not find it after all. Soap 02:32, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Three Concerns:
- The table currently seems correct.
- The data from the table reference is available as a CSV file (ALTA_FORE-ROCK_ENG.csv) from the ftp site (ftp.tor.ec.gc.ca). The "JASPER" data are actually all from 1981 to 1995. August is listed as "64.45" mm. Also listed are "JASPER EAST GATE" and "JASPER WARDEN". The latter is the same location as "JASPER", with data from 1996 to 2007. Thank Harper for discontinuing the data collection.
- The monthly climate data are also available (yearly) at "https://climate.weather.gc.ca/historical_data/search_historic_data_stations_e.html?searchType=stnName&timeframe=1&txtStationName=jasper&searchMethod=contains&optLimit=yearRange&StartYear=1840&EndYear=2021&Year=2021&Month=2&Day=9&selRowPerPage=25". As above, the first two "JASPER WARDEN"s and "JASPER WARDEN" will give you annual monthly statistics from 1916 to 2007. Again, thank Harper for discontinuing a century of data collection. I have used the yearly statistics before, after downloading them as CSV, and adding each year to a spreadsheet.
