Why undid merge
editI unmerged the article from List of Stanford University Centers and Institutes as Jasper Ridge is actually a large tract of land preserved from too much human interference and of interest both biologically and historically (though this needs to be expanded upon in the article). --Erp (talk) 00:45, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Possibly history bits
editJasper Ridge historically is known for
- Evidence of Native Americans
- An old lumber town, Searsville, California
- The dam and lake, Searsville Lake
- The hermit of Jasper Ridge, Domenico Grosso, who held the mineral rights though the University held the title.
- The swimming camp on the lake run by one of Stanford University's coaches
- The conversion to a Biological Preserve in the 1970s
I'll try adding fleshing out and adding to the main article, but, I would welcome some help.--Erp (talk) 01:10, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- It would be nice to know when Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve was founded and if it grew in size over time. Jooojay (talk) 00:16, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Officially 1973 though recreational use continued until 1975. I don't think it has changed in size since then. I added the date and ref. --Erp (talk) 03:20, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
