question
editis it pronounced havanese?
No, it's pronounced as in Java, the island as well as the programming language. Eggytoast 16:40, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Points
editIn Europe the classification as Javanese (or Mandarin) implies no points. Therefore the more (or less) correct name of the breed here is Oriental Longhair as TICA names it. The reason for naming Javanese as "pointed" cats is solely the fact, that CFA only accepts "Siamese" in four colours: seal, chocolate, blue and lilac. All other pointed oriental cats are according to CFA "Oriental". To me, it doesn't make sense, to call a pointed cat Javanese, only to obey the rules of CFA. Pardon? And re edits=
editSorry- no idea what that person above said- but will include. Article probably needs attention of expert- preferably science or veterinarian background.Peeweebee (talk) 16:15, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Academic Language
editWhat is with the "so called" phrases in this article. The phrase so called refers to uncertainty, there is no uncertainty in an encyclopedia. This should be further researched and fixed. 168.103.182.71 (talk) 01:13, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
NOT really from Java
editThe lede points out clearly that this breed does not really come from Java. So why does this article still need to point this out further down?
- "The Javanese breed has a long, silky coat in a variety of colors. It is distinct from the native domestic cats of Java which have very short hair, approximately 2 cm long, due to the hot and humid equatorial climate."
