Wikipedia effect
Major 90s TV star, and like Billy Crystal, one of the very few actors who made the unlikely jump from comedian to leading man. But he was on the most sophisticated adult comedies of that time, and back then the average Wikipedia editor was still in elementary school. There are fuller Wiki biographies for any of the ensemble currently on Saturday Night Live than for Jay Thomas. This understandable bias is a familiar problem on Wikipedia. One understands that on Wikipedia, Bob Hope or Jimmy Cagney or Neil Simon barely exist. But Jay Thomas is an interesting example-- he almost makes the age bias cut. If he had been on Nick or Sesame Street back then, he'd have the extensive bio his career deserves. Profhum (talk) 18:02, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
