I was a little taken back about the use ofthis term, which some querents might consider value-laden. It would be better to have some kind of refrenced source that querents then evaluate at their leisure. What do people think?20:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Destroyed?
edit"Most of his works have either been lost or destroyed." This seems an odd statement. I know of no evidence for that. Where does trhis claim come from? Paul B (talk) 14:30, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- This is possible. He did make prints of his work. His father-in-law was a collector, a curator, and a printer for some of the work that Gerome would then sign in limited numbers. I own one of these prints he did sign. This work does exist. It is rare but it is there. Several pieces are in London at the Royal Academy of Art. 2603:7000:BD00:E48D:A858:1B76:E168:C089 (talk) 17:23, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
His death? I have read an article in the New York Times from 1904 that Gérôme had died in his bed and not in front of a Rembrandt Painting!!! It was his Obituary from January, 10th 1904 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Art history 2011 (talk • contribs) 16:40, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

editFile:Geromeslavemarket.jpg should also be added as it is one of his paintings.--202.153.47.59 (talk) 08:16, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
