Cokodok (alternate spelling: Cekodok), also called Kuih Kodok or Cucur or Jemput-jemput, is a traditional Malaysian fritter snack that is made with flour and banana, and is fried. It is usually round in shape and tends to vary in size. There are many varieties of this snack, some substituting the banana with anchovies, prawns, onion or maize.
I offer the following (Original Research) for possible confirmation from some other source: Whilst we were living in Malaysia in the seventies, our friends taught us to make a spicy onion (sometimes with other vegetables added, such as green chillies or bell-peppers) version of this fried snack, under the name, as then spelt, "Chochor Kodok" (the current spelling would be "Cucur Kodok". In my friends' pronunciations, it usually sounded like "Cocokedok", with first and last syllables accented. We still make and enjoy "Cocokedok" with our family and friends.
