Video on Single Video Theory DVD

edit

I don't know why the article says this, I have the DVD and it's not on it. Unless someone can show it is on the DVD the comment should be removed from the article. JedEgan 00:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

They showed the "Jeremy" music video on MTV this morning.

Video description?

edit

I think that a minute-by-minute description of the video is totally unnecessary. A synopsis would suffice. Xander 17:00, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. I think that the video description is great. It is hard to completely understand it without watching it, and this description is the next best thing.(some guy)

I also disagree. I like it. Such an iconic video deserves thiskind of description. How come the lyrics are not written somewhere in the article??--201.114.96.112 21:12, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Including the full lyrics would probably be copyright infringement. Itub 13:25, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've cut the blow-by-blow description of the video. It really was excessive (over 1,300 words, and about 50% of the entire article), contained some POV descriptions, and quoted such a large portion of the lyrics that I fear it may have been in violation of fair use. This description would be great on a PJ fan site, but isn't really appropriate here. CKarnstein 05:02, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

[edit] The original low-budget video

edit

Could someone please put up a reference link for this fact. I personally havent come across any site that validates this fact.

I am the user who deleted the "lives on in bootlegs" sentence and replaced it with "(See link below for video.)" I did this because I expended needless effort trying to find the "bootleg" only to realize the article contained a link to the video on the director's website, in that case it hardly qualifies as a "bootleg" My "See link below" has since been removed. As far as "putting up a reference link for validation", isn't a link to the video proof of its existence?

Redirect

edit

Why does the boy's name redirect to the song page? Shouldn't there be a short page devoted to just him and the incident?

It's nice that Pearl Jam made a song about him, but it is based off a real incident, which means the song page shouldn't be the main page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phantasee (talkcontribs) 17:32, 17 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Agreed. A page on Jeremy himself needs to be separate from this page. If there is more support for this, a new page should be created. Rigel1 16:30, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:PJJeremy.jpg

edit

Image:PJJeremy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Uncut?

edit

The description says you don't see Jeremy's gun; apparently there's an uncut version where you do. --Silvestris 03:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

That section needs fixing anyway, that swastica is just conjecture, you just see the american flag in background with the class doing the same salute as the nazi's did to the german flag.

Alternative rock

edit

Is alternative rock really necessary? we've established grunge is a subgenre of alt-rock, making it redundant. See the Nirvana articles, they all only have grunge. I call the big one bitey 03:59, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Decline in usage of name "Jeremy"

edit

Should anything be added to this article about the popular usage of the name "Jeremy" for newborns? I've read many times that, just as people stopped naming babies "Jude" after the Beatles' song "Hey Jude", this song was singularly responsible for a plummet in the usage of the name "Jeremy" for baby boys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.44.252.194 (talk) 23:29, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
