Political bias
editDoes anyone else think, or is there any evidence that Paxman is in favour of one side of the political spectrum or another? As a leftwinger I am probably slightly biased in my opinion that Paxman is more right-wing than left. However seeing as he seems to criticse everyone (although notably over different issues, i.e. he dosent criticse Blair over policy but religion, and Blair is widely held to be centre right-wing in Britain) perhaps his political alignment is simply that of the 'slightly'-overconfident arsehole party. As I cannot see any reference in the article can someone tell me if they know whether Paxman has a left-wight alignment or he just criticises everyone (in a way which is admittedly fun to watch).Anti-BS Squad (talk) 12:37, 1 January 2008 (UTC) Now this is quite amusing; being right of the middle, I have always perceived Paxman to have an apparent left-y bias!! I suppose this means he just has an exceedingly antagonistic, adversarial style. Trinkella (talk) 22:32, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- No way that he is a rightwinger. He has always tried to seem like un-PC, but so it only seems. Although I do not like George Galloway, the treatment he recieved was as we say, somewhat biased. This was in 2005. I learned who Lammy is, and his behaviour is not to be mentioned, as it can cause sleep depravation. As of 2011, he is publishing a book which gives evidence of a British-Empire-hangover, merely "because we are in Afghanistan". Please tell this leftwinger that Norway is also "in Afghanistan". --Stat-ist-ikk (talk) 11:40, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Criticism of the programme "Empire"
editAccording to the Radio Times, the programme "Empire" has been criticised by the stereotypically political right wing for not glorifying the British Empire and by the stereotypically left wing for not making as big thing as it could have done of the atrocities committed in the name of the British Empire. If any one one knows how sources for these, they could go in here. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:13, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Beard
editIs facial hair a useful category? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Stern 63-year-old broadcaster left viewers 'in shock' with new facial hair
- Fellow presenter Emily Maitlis: 'I'm working on moustache for Thursday'
- Some Viewers say Paxman looks 'louche', 'distinguished' and 'gorgeous'
- Others compared him to 'Santa', a castaway or a 'rubbish Doctor Who'
- From the Daily Mail. Does anyone know if this is a good enough source for a BLP? -- Hillbillyholiday talk 18:45, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- A source like this might be almost as good? Martinevans123 (talk) 19:01, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
I really do not think Jeremy Paxman should be granted a beard. It's corrupt. Disney had it right. Hey BBC - no news beards.
- Methinks a new article is required for all this pogonophobia! -- Hillbillyholiday talk 20:02, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, someone just did! It's been deleted several times in the past, so it needs adding to pronto. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 20:44, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- Quite agree. Looks like BBC have big probs - first older women, now beards. And if you're an older bearded woman - no chance!! Martinevans123 (talk) 20:48, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- lol, I guess Mary Beard must be quaking in her little boots. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 21:26, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- ... thank heavens she doesn't have whiskers. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:52, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
