Puttkamer's removal?

edit

Translation of colonial police methods of repression against dark people in Brazil turned up "ceia de camarões." With no details this is taken to be something like a prawn platter. But the name is that of Cameroon as written in Portuguese. Sure enough, the German colonial overlord Puttkamer (or his underlings) may have provided the pattern just as in Colonial America references to dictatorial cruelty often mentioned the Russian knout. My question is: does anyone have information on what sort of mistreatment led to Puttkamer's removal? This may be the key to the Brazilian enigma of Major Vidigal's methods. I wish it were a nicer subject, but am still seeking an answer. translator (talk) 05:20, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just stumbled upon this topic, by way of a book on a naval topic of WW2 that referenced a von Puttkamer as one of Hitler's staff. This led me to the v.Puttkamer family article...
Regarding the post above, I'm sorry but I can't quite understand what you are asking. I think your asking about possible atrocities by (or endorsed by) v.Puttkamer? But this does not mesh with references to Brazil, "Russian knout", the Portuguese, and Colonial America (usually meant to be the period of 1607 to circa 1776 North America).
Can you clarify ? Best regards, Engr105th (talk) 03:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
