Trim Time
editThis page needs serious cutting. Please make suggestions on how to take a LOT out of it. Spoonkymonkey (talk) 20:14, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- It still needs trimming; a lot of the detail seems unnecessary. I think this could be 1/4 of the size. First, the individual paragraphs on his previous employers, these jobs are entry level, and very common so anyone in journalism would have had jobs like these, and they don't need whole paragraphs as there is nothing notable about them, ie he was not a first, didn't win any awards etc. Second, I'd delete the details on sponsorship, they are in no way notable and read like free advertising for those companies, and seem irrelevant to a biography. Third, I'd get rid of the whole chunk on reception - notable people have many things written about them, books, biographies, films about their lives. But this list is of very small news articles, nothing significant, so that section seems almost posturing, to try and make the bio seem more important than it is because 5 people wrote about him. That is actually not very much. I'd make these changes but they would significantly reduce the size of the article -posting for other thoughts before I try anything. It seems to me the significant parts about this biography, worth keeping, are that he started a media company, the WE coverage is significant as it was a large story, the Gomeshi story is noteworthy because it won an award, although it was about a fairly minor local personality. Jian Ghomeshi section
editIn my view, the long, rambling section on Jian Ghomeshi who was later acquitted of all charges despite Brown's continued insistence of his guilt, should be removed entirely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpiff (talk • contribs) 00:29, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Jesse Brown's title
editEither 'talk show host', 'media personality', or 'businessperson' fits his current work, but not 'journalist'. Jesse Brown was never employed or educated as a journalist. He assisted with two articles that a court later ruled were factually wrong when Jian Ghomeshi was acquitted of all charges, that's not a career.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpiff (talk • contribs) 2018-03-12T12:42:11 (UTC)
- Keep. The article title with "journalist" is fine from my perspective, as he graduated from McGill University with a BA, and founded Canadaland which is a member of the National NewsMedia Council. A podcast host is not the same as a "talk show host", so this not an appropriate title. +mt 00:52, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Canadaland is more than Jesse Brown
editSearching for Canadaland on WP results in a redirect to Jesse Brown. IMO, it should not.
Canadaland produces a number of podcasts and its website has editorial content covering numerous news stories. Brown is the founder but the reader/listener supported website employs other journalists, full time and part time.
IMO, Canadaland should have its own page and the section about it on Brown's page should be moved.
