Has the Center closed?
editThe article is written in the past tense, as though the Center no longer exists. But I am not aware that is has closed, and the article itself makes no mention of closure. Is the use of the past tense appropriate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.30.48.43 (talk) 2010-04-13T02:37:18
- Yes. It opened in 1947 and closed in 1954. But a NEW Centre opened in 1961 (and is probably still open). Instead of making this clearer, people have conflated the two, to varying degrees.
- Currently, this (English) article is named for the first Centre (1947-1954). It still (correctly) says that the first Centre closed. It no longer (incorrectly) says that it re-opened. It's updated now to say that a similar Centre (similar founder(s) and similar function(s)) opened in 1961 (with a different name, in a different city). (This (English) article also discusses the second Centre, which does not have its own English article.)
- Currently, the German article is named for the second Centre (1961-). (The German article also discusses the first Centre, which does not have its own German article.) -A876 (talk) 00:01, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
Soviet Linz or American Linz?
editThe city was divided into two parts at the time the Center existed. I think it has to be remarked upon in which part its activities took place. Same for the branch in Vienna. Вечный подмастерье (talk) 01:27, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
