Somebody please fix my clumsy translation. -- Visviva 11:21, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

IPA, please

edit

As it is a transcribed title, IMHO an IPA transcription would be helpfull. At least in the translation of this article to Hungarian. J is transcribed in two different ways. One is like ch in Englih, the otheri is like J. Could somebody help to mo? --Ksanyi (talk) 20:13, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

That is correct. The first sound is unvoiced (like "church") and the second "J" is voiced (like "judge"). Unlike English "church", however, the first sound isn't aspirated. --Kjoonlee 23:28, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

K is pronounced like K in Knife or lile gh in ghost? Thank you for your earlier answer. --Ksanyi (talk) 06:51, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's like the 'k' in "blackboard", and hmm.... that's a very good question. It has made me think again about my previous answer.
Short answer: Koreans will think Jikji is /dʑikdʑi/ or /dʑigdʑi/, but the actual pronunciation will be closer to [tɕiktɕ͈i], when you pronounce just Jikji. --Kjoonlee 14:43, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Translation

edit

The translation "The Monk Baegun's Anthology of the Great Priests' Teachings on Identification of the Buddha’s Spirit by the Practice of Seon" listed in the lead does not match the native text in the side box. Is there a more complete native title? --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 09:40, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

My brief searches doesn't show a longer native text title, so I will take the liberty of changing the English translation to "Anthology of Great Buddhist Priests' Zen Teachings" because this is the translation recorded by UNESCO in the official register. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 06:14, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

It might sound stupid, but I'm serious. I saw the link which links to the 'Gutenberg Bible' in the frame 'See Also' at the Jikji article, but there is not the link to Jikji in the Gutenberg Bible article. Why is that? Garypark (talk) 11:19, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not stupid. I've added a See also link there. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:31, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
