Request for edit protection
editA large number of IP edits have taken place for this article, as well as a page move due to recent events. I would request that this page should be semi-protected and some discussion as per MOS:IDENTITY should take place before subsequent major edits, such as changing all references from Rizvi to Tyagi. WP:Libel and poorly sourced material for BLP
editAllegations of someone being an "agent" without any evidence are poorly sourced and may violate Wikipedia:Libel. Article must follow Wikipedia:BLPBALANCE, to take into account a person's overall accomplishments. Removing such material.

editWasim Rizvi belongs to a common family. His father was a general employee of the railway but when Rizvi was studying in class 6, his father died. After this, the responsibility of Rizvi and his siblings fell on his Valada. Rizvi was the eldest of his siblings. He studied up to 12th standard and took admission in a college in Nainital for further studies. But, due to his weak mentality and poor character, he had to leave the studies.
After this he moved to Saudi Arabia and started doing low-level cleaning work in a hotel. Later he got a chance to go to Japan and work in a factory there. He then got a chance to work in the US where he worked in a store. But, due to his theft habits, he had to return to India and here he started trading.
When their social relations started getting better, they decided to contest the municipal elections. It was here that his political career began. He then became a member of the Waqf Board and then rose to the post of chairman. He has been on the board for the last ten years and has been in the limelight due to constant statements, he has resorted to Muslim opposition to make his politics shine and Wasim Rizvi has contributed immensely to increase Hindu Muslim distance in the present situation of India. Content in lead
edit223.226.214.50, why do these edits help the article? From what I see, you removed the word 'controversial' from the lead and removed the BJP protest. The petition is controversial, since the BJP and the Shia and Sunni sects have protested the petition. Also, the upload is from the Daily Excelsior, and per WP:RSPYT it inherits the Daily Excelsior's level of reliability. Sungodtemple (talk) 13:21, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- "controversial" violates MOS:AWW, not supported by the source either.[1] 223.226.214.50 (talk) 07:01, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- 223.226.214.50, I can't find the specific guideline, but not refs are not supposed to be in the lead. It was posted in the WP:SIGNPOST once if I remember correctly. In the body it says that both Shia and Sunni have protested against the petition. WP:AWW says
Likewise, views that are properly attributed to a reliable source may use similar expressions, if those expressions accurately represent the opinions of the source.
- For one example of the controversiality, see the Kashmir Observer: https://kashmirobserver.net/2021/03/12/shia-body-blasts-waseem-rizvi-for-anti-quran-move . It does not directly say this, but I think this deserves an IAR. Sungodtemple (talk) 02:58, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Pakistanis are vandalizing the page
editNeed to lock article as Pakistanis are vandalizing the page 2405:201:4004:ECE7:A86F:264C:545D:5B2 (talk) 17:41, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
vandal move?
editHe is known as Syed Waseem Rizvi not Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi. Better to move it as it was previously. Syed Waseem Rizvi is common not Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.224.140.102 (talk) 11:12, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

- It was a bad page move. Per WP:COMMONNAME, the subject is still known as "Syed Waseem Rizvi" more than he is known as "Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi". The most common name in this case is "Waseem Rizvi" though and if there is any further discussion about moving the page then the page should be retitled to "Waseem Rizvi". 117.99.99.187 (talk) 02:30, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Please change "alma_mater = University of Lucknow " to "alma_mater = "
because page has no reference at all that he went to University of Lucknow. Thus please remove University of Lucknow from this page. Thanks. 2405:204:A29D:C27C:57D5:A85B:97EB:49B6 (talk) 07:20, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi → Syed Wasim Rizvi – The person is still called Syed Wasim Rizvi by most media sources and WP:RS. Also, he spells his name as Wasim not Waseem so that should be the spelling used. Xoocit (talk) 21:56, 20 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 23:22, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
