Name in first line
editThe first line says:
Jo Jorgensen (born Joanne Marie Jorgensen; May 1, 1957) is ....
The participle "born" suggests that she changed her name at some point. So it's not appropriate here. "Jo" is merely a nickname for Joanne. So the first line should just give her full name, like the Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton articles.
I was going to make this change myself, but I thought it might be a previously debated point so I wanted to see if there are any objections first. — Lawrence King (talk) 00:55, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Lawrence King, she has legally changed her name to Jo Jorgensen (including removing her middle name), so it is formatted correctly per MOS:CHANGEDNAME. I thought that was made pretty clear by the three citations and the inline comment. ― Tartan357 Talk 11:28, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Gotcha. Sorry, I should have read the citations. — Lawrence King (talk) 08:02, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- So why are you removing this information now (globally) ? —Mykhal (talk) 12:12, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- Mykhal, because I've never seen a single source with that name. I assumed it was her birth name when I made the previous comment, but I've since realized that it is a completely unreferenced piece of information, so it must be removed per WP:V and WP:BLP. If you have a reliable source giving that as her birth name, please provide it. ― Tartan357 Talk 12:14, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- Mykhal, I have looked long and hard for that name in an RS but have only ever seen it sourced back to Wikipedia. It could very well have simply been invented here. ― Tartan357 Talk 12:17, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- I have found no good sources as well. Btw, this is the case, when the best source would be the article topic object/subject herself. —Mykhal (talk) 15:51, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- Mykhal, exactly, which is what we get from her FEC filing (already cited), in which she gives her full name as "Jo Jorgensen". ― Tartan357 Talk 11:44, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
