COI editing
editThere appears to be conflict of interest editing going on here. Please see Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Memorial_Sloan_Ketter_Cancer_Center_nest_of_COI_editing. I cleaned this up some. Jytdog (talk) 21:22, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Improving the article
editI've been working on a slightly expanded version of the article in my sandbox, but I've mainly been focused on adding references to the article where they were missing. One seemingly minor change I'm proposing as well is the removal of the description of Massagué as Spanish in the lead, as he considers himself Catalan. Would anyone mind taking a look at my new draft? I declared my COI with Memorial Sloan Kettering above.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 00:28, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Specific changes are listed below:
- Removed the hyphens from Memorial Sloan Kettering
- Changed “Spanish scientist” to “biologist” as not everyone from Barcelona identifies as Spanish
- Copyedited lead paragraph to be more straightforward
- Added missing references from Biography section and added a citation needed tag for his work under Guinovart
- Rearranged content to read more chronologically and moved awards into Awards and honors section
- Expanded Scientific contributions section, with references to support content
- Created Awards and honors section with content from Biography section, as well as new additions for a more comprehensive look

- @Natureium: thanks for all your help! If you have a minute, could you take another look at the lead paragraph? I can appreciate if you disagreed with the way it was written, but as it stands it's partially incorrect, as he is no longer chair of the Cancer Biology and Genetics Program. Also, I think the "Solé" should be removed from the first sentence, for the reasons given in the move request. I'd be happy to collaborate on a new version if you feel the one I proposed in my sandbox is inadequate. Thanks again!--FacultiesIntact (talk) 17:24, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Joan Massagué Solé → Joan Massagué – I think this is a straightforward move, but I'm refraining from doing it myself as I have a paid COI regarding the article. This Wikipedia article seems to be the only significant place that refers to him as Joan Massagué Solé. An apparent majority of his academic papers credit him as Joan Massagué, as all of the references included in the current article refer to him as Joan Massagué, including (but not limited to) these papers:
- Transforming growth factor β signaling impairs Neu-induced mammary tumorigenesis while promoting pulmonary metastasis
- A multigenic program mediating breast cancer metastasis to bone.
- Genes that mediate breast cancer metastasis to lung.
- WNT/TCF Signaling through LEF1 and HOXB9 Mediates Lung Adenocarcinoma Metastasis
- Genes that mediate breast cancer metastasis to the brain
Google search results return about 50000 results for "Joan Massagué" vs about 6000 for "Joan Massagué Solé", and his Google Scholar profile lists him as Joan Massagué as well. Currently Joan Massagué redirects to Joan Massagué Solé, but it should be the other way around given how he is referred to in his professional career and the media. - Support I don't imagine anyone will disagree with this, but I don't see a provision for closing requested moves early. Natureium (talk) 06:34, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
