Makes no sense
editI think this should be moved back to "Job control", and the disambiguation page named "Job control (disambiguation)". Calling this "Job control block" makes no sense. Thoughts? Peter Flass (talk) 01:10, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Note: requester has already moved Job control block → Job control (computing), but there is a consensus here that it is not the primary topic for Job control. I will move the disambiguation back to that location. (non-admin closure) — Amakuru (talk) 15:12, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
Job control block → Job control – "Job control block" is meaningless in this context. This article is about the general concept of job control in computing. Peter Flass (talk) 22:35, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose: Better move it to "Job control (computing)" then, as Job control (workplace) is similarly relevant in an entirely different area. --Chris Howard (talk) 00:07, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps. Peter Flass (talk) 02:18, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose clearly not what most people who do not program computers would think. The disambiguation page should be moved to the base location, since we have Job control (workplace) -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 09:24, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- NOTE the nominator moved the disambiguation page off to Job control (disambiguation) just prior to making this nomination, so this is in effect a malformed multimove request. If this request fails, the disambiguation page should return to the base location. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 09:26, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry :-( Peter Flass (talk) 00:40, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay, the disambiguation page needs to be moved back. I'd suggest deleting that and Job control block. Peter Flass (talk) 21:46, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

JCB stands for Job Control Block
editAsk your local IBM mainframe systems programmer. As for it should be spelled with each word capitalized, yes, that's correct. I first am seeing this renaming matter, including the past renaming of the Disambig page to lack the word Disambiguation in its title, in 2020. The JCB ring around the rosie was in 2015.
The IBM article at http://ibmmainframes.com/about33589.html is named "What is JCB (job control block)." Pi314m (talk) 23:22, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- UPDATE: A bit of google research suggests that a standalone article on JCB won't pass a notability test. It, and JFCB and friends will just have to live with their Wikipedia obscurity. Data Control Block (DCB), which is part of mortal life in assembler (and of course JCL)
has an article.
- As for DisAmBig, I agree with the Peter Flass 13 March 2015 comment. Job control (disambiguation) for what it's named, Job control (computing)'s "This article ... see" is part of what's needed there, including attempting re "This article needs additional citations ..."
