editI came across http://bwfcstats.com/play/overall/page10.html where its said Fred Keetley made one appearance for Bolton in the 21/22 season. There is a Fred Keetley who later played for Lincoln around 1933 - apparently scoring 6 in one game. Its possible these are the same person, though also possible that Joe was known as Fred (his middle name) at Bolton - he did play for Bolton before Accrington, so its the most likely story. Its also possible that he ended up at Bolton due to a link with Fred Keetley - seems the name Keetley was at that time mainly in Derbyshire, but secondly dominant in Lancashire, so could well be family connections across the two regions. A lot of conjecture, but interesting thinking of the Keetley bros and what the story is :)
Any help appreciated here :) Cjwilky (talk) 18:23, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Also noticed at http://www.footballgroundsinfocus.com/TT1011265.htm there's the reference to Jack Keetley playing as a forward for Horwich RMI. Given it seems fairly clear that Joe was known also as Jack at Wolves (move to wolves from Liverpool seems well indicated and no mention of a Joe in their stats - just a pic I find with Joe on it in that same season) this is likely to refer to Joe. INteresting too that he started at Bolton, moved around and ended up back in the same area with Horwich, Lancaster and Ribbles Motors. Did he marry someone from there? Strange he was called Jack though, never heard a Joe called Jack before. Overall, there seems to be an interesting story underlying Joe's life. Cjwilky (talk) 18:51, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?scan=1&r=156372320&d=bmd_1354011142 shows the only Joseph F Keetley coming up in a wide search as marrying a Platt in Bolton in 1927 - adds up that this is Joe. Cjwilky (talk) 19:10, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
