Bias

edit

This article is one sided and biased towards the subject. The article fails to mention the terrorist acts in which Slovo participated. In some of these acts civilians were killed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.226.121.178 (talk) 21:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Indeed terrorist aspect, as well as any other negative aspects are omitted in the article. It reads like a hagiography. Maybe this will lighten things up a bit? https://archive.org/details/RivoniaUnmasked/page/n1 105.0.4.88 (talk) 15:35, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit

I reverted a recent edit because it was poorly sourced (it added multiple references to the website of the South African Communist Party, however) and included editorializing ("These clauses have sometimes been misunderstood as suggesting permanent and major curbs on the power of the new state. This is not accurate.") that is inappropriate for an encyclopedia biography. As an encyclopedia, we try to use reliable sources that are independent of the subject, preferable secondary sources, which means biographies of Slovo should be cited, not articles by Slovo. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:02, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Duplication

edit

The 3rd paragraph of #1 Life, after mentioning Slovo's marriage to Ruth First and their children, ends "Ruth First was assassinated in 1982 in Maputo, by order of Craig Williamson, a major in the South African Police.". The 4th sentence of the 5th paragraph is "In 1982, Slovo's wife, Ruth First was assassinated in Maputo, Mozambique, where the couple lived in exile.". Would it be better to mention the assassination in the 3rd paragraph or delete the 5th? Mcljlm (talk) 01:17, 27 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
