Complete dog's breakfast
this article verges on being listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion, i want to give the author a chance to edit it and format it correctly. please look at our policies on neutral point of view and the Manual of Style, the article currently looks like a complete dogs breakfast. clarkk 11:19, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- in particular, please note that we never start an article with a section header, we have an initial lead section. please look at how a biographic article is supposed to be formatted, see wikipedia:WikiProject Biography or some other biographical articles such as Paul Keating or Jack Mundey. clarkk 11:22, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- also, external links should not be generally included inline, but should be in a separate section on "External links". clarkk 11:23, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
Thirteen months have passed since clarkk's negative comments were made. The article now follows Wikipedia's Manual of Style, is succinct, properly formatted and encyclopedic.Phase4 12:25, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Alter ego?
Anon IP 203.214.138.216 has today added a section starting:
- "Since his death, rumours have begun circulating to the effect that Vialls was actually a Mossad operative named Ari Ben-Menashe." This edit – based on rumours – cannot stand for two reasons:
- The referenced website appears to date from before the death of Joe Vialls in July 2005.
- Wikipedia article Ari Ben-Menashe, which has been extensively edited since July 2005, continues to put the subject in the Living people category.
In my view, this rumour of the Vialls/Menashe alter ego cannot appear on Wikipedia unless and until it is confirmed beyond doubt that Ari Ben-Menashe died in July 2005.Phase4 12:56, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Excessive editing
Anon IP 203.194.70.65 has today added a swathe of information in 21 separate edits to the Vialls article. There is now far too much detail on the various allegations Vialls made eg the Bali bombing and too little on the man himself. In my view, it would be simpler to revert all 21 edits. What do others think?Phase4 12:55, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Material removed
I removed some largely unsourced material about people other than Vialls. Even the parts that were supposedly sourced didn't seem too clear about the contents of the source:
- Finnegan's report was also challenged in an opinion piece, written by Hermawan Sulistyo, that the Post published on January 15 2003...Sulistyo's article did not directly rebut the findings of Finnegan's investigation....
Someone who's interested is welcome to look it up again, but they would need to do a better job of reading and synthesizing the material than this. Frankly, the entire article is very poor, so it's not just this passage, although I'm not sure how much reliable information there is to be had about this subject. --Michael Snow 21:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- From the previous section, it should be clear that I support the move by Michael Snow.Phase4 22:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
