Why was the part of Joel being Jewish, removed? Nobody wants to know that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.73.15.6 (talk) 09:43, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

How do you know that he is Jewish? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 18:46, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
In this swedish interview he says he is Jewish. Use Google translate. http://arbetarbladet.se/noje/film/1.105180-joel-kinnaman-regerar-i-arn- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.114.156.254 (talk) 14:48, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually he simply and vaguely says he has Jewish ancestry, nothing specific about his Mother being Jewish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.139.168.4 (talk) 05:32, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
That was here. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 07:26, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

He explicitly calls his mother and sisters Jewish, ergo he considers himself Jewish:

On being surrounded by strong, complex, intriguing female leads: "It's like my life. I have a strong mother with five sisters and pretty much everyone I work with—my manager, agent—they're all women. My life is run by powerful, Jewish women."

The anonymous user (IP 31.40.131.100) who deleted the Jewish reference/ categories is biased against Jews and has deleted such references on several pages as well, yet has targeted no other ethnicities/religions in such a way. theraefactor (talk) 08:22, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reference to future events

"Kinnaman is set to portray DC superhero Rick Flag, in the film adaptation of Suicide Squad, based on the DC Comics anti-hero team of the same name. The film will be released in August 2016.[4]"

This the sort of thing that will have to be rerwitten when we're past the release date. Is that really the way articles are supposed to be shaped? Isn't it more prudent to write in a time-neutral language? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.249.185.2 (talk) 21:09, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nationality

edit

For the longest time, his page stated he was "Swedish-American", which shouldn't be done per WP:ETHNICITY. Hyphenated terms often imply ethnic ancestry, i.e - an American of Swedish descent. Now, the subject was born in Sweden, studied acting there, began his career in Sweden, and gained notability as a Swede before he started working in American productions to expand his career.[1] And information on his dual citizenship and parentage were more widely available.

Following WP:ETHNICITY or MOS:LEADBIO, his opening sentence should likely just state "Swedish" as that was his country of birth, largely raised, and gained notability in Sweden before moving to the U.S. to gain further international fame. But he is also a dual citizen, presumably because his own father was American-born as he had held dual citizenship at least of 2011 per Variety. And began working in Hollywood productions especially starting in the 2010s. But, not every BLP has to list every single passport a person holds, especially if it is not relevant to the subject's life/notability/identity/etc. So under those reasons, the opening sentence should state just "Swedish" or "Swedish and American". It should not state the hyphenated terms like "Swedish-American" or "American-Swedish".

I've placed it as just "Swedish" until there is proper consensus on the wording of his opening sentence. Clear Looking Glass (talk) 08:16, 22 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
