Article Upgrade in Progress
editHello.
This Wikipedia article is one of a number that will be expanded, linked and modified by the Board of Directors of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association (CGMFA - cgmfa-acgmv.ca). It is a Canadian national arts organization and incorporated under relevant laws of the Province of Ontario. Since John Arcand is a Canadian Grand Masters Lifetime Achievement Award winner, references have been updated with what there is along with an update on his discography.
I have been designated by our national board of directors to update this and other articles of relevance to Canadian fiddling to an acceptable standard. My Wikipedia handle is Pianocan1, and I have an explanation page about what will be happening in the coming months with this and other articles. I hold a B.Mus.-Mus Ed. degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a M. Mus degree in Ethnomusicology from the University of Bergen in Norway. I urge anyone with questions or concerns to check all Canadian fiddling websites and become educated with the Canadian fiddle community and the Canadian fiddle scene. My Wikipedia handle is Pianocan1 and my personal website address is www.trentbruner.com.
The CGMFA is serious about updating and improving a portion of a larger Canadian fiddle history project by our organization and requests full cooperation and assistance from all concerned with these efforts. This message will be copied on a number of other selected articles as well for relevant Canadian music and provincial music portals. Any questions or inquiries can be sent to our national president, Cathy Sproule (cathysproule@sasktel.net). Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

Even the Canadian government thinks that John Arcand is a notable fiddler. He won one of Canada's top honours, for goodness sake. The Order of Canada is a big deal. Please do not speedily delete this article.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Flow (talk • contribs)
- I dropped by to "stub sort" this article, and removed the speedy tag because the Order of Canada seems to me to assert importance. But you could usefully flesh the article out a bit - there seems to be good external info at http://www.artsboard.sk.ca/Tribute/tribute_LG_Arcand.htm . PamD (talk) 10:01, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I added a few references and things that may indicate he is notable to the article. I still think the article could be fleshed out a lot more, but I think I'll leave some of that for the next person to come along. Flow (talk) 10:27, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
