Help me to understand why this is written like an advertisement and how I can fix it. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smbrown123 (talkcontribs) 22:38, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Without reading the article completely, the "trademark information" and "products offered" sections blatantly don't belong in an encyclopedic article. Wizard191 (talk) 00:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

It needs a rewrite from independent, secondary, reliable sources. As currently sourced, this is just an extension of JCG's own publicity campaigns. --Ronz (talk) 17:00, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Name

edit

User:Aliciasunday claims to be a PR flack for this company, and says that they need to change the name of this article from John Crane Inc. to John Crane Group; yet the company's own website says, "John Crane Inc. is a part of Smiths Group plc." So: not done. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:24, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Some Proposed Changes

edit

Please can the image of John Crane Morton Grove facility be deleted. It appears in the history section of the article. This is because we now have a new visual identity and would like to replace with an image that reflects that. To see the new visual identity please see www.johncrane.com JEvans26 (talk) 11:33, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Well, in my opinion the Morton Grove image is useful for historical purposes. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia wants to cover the entire history of a corporation, not just their recent activities. There's also the copyright barrier to consider, since any images from your corporate website are presumably copyrighted. Wikipedia is freely licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, so we are unable to use copyrighted photos in our articles except under extenuating circumstances—and I do not believe this case qualifies. If you would still prefer that images from your website be used in the article, and are able to release them under a free license compatible with the CC-BY-SA 3.0, please follow the instructions at commons:OTRS for sending an e-mail releasing the photographs. Proposed Changes- Divestment of Artificial lift business

edit

Smiths Group, of which John Crane is a division of, divested its artificial lift business in 2007. This was part of the John Crane division. Please can we add a statement in the history section of the John Crane Group article, directly after where it says: In 2007, the company acquired CDI Energy Services, CDI Oilfield Services, Fiberod and Global Energy Products. This branch of the company specializes in artificial lift equipment and services for upstream oil and gas production.

Please add the statement: Smiths Group divested the artificial lift business, part of the John Crane division, in October 2016. The statement should be added no earlier than Tuesday 15th November 2016.

Support for this statement can be found hereCite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).http://www.smiths.com/press-release-details.aspx?pPK=e80d334b-3485-404d-a848-9dedf9a706dc&PressRelease_ID=458 JEvans27 (talk) 12:11, 14 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
